IT IS YOU
Relationship with God
"God of all nations/Lord of creation
You've called us to restore your lands
And place them back within your hands
The church you build will never fail
No gate or border will prevail"
Men and women were created to have communion with their Creator. This
is why all of us need to be refreshed by the presence of our heavenly
Father on a continual basis. Without it, we lose connection with our Source
of life. The daily wear and tear of living drains our spiritual strength
and joy. We start struggling in our own strength, and then we have nothing
left to give to others. We need time to reassess our priorities and learn
to relate to the Father again.
One of the best gifts Christ gave us in bringing us the kingdom is the
ability to have this intimate relationship with the Father. The apostle
Paul wrote, "For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,'
made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge
of the glory of God in the face of Christ." Because Christ lives
within us, He reveals the Father to us-illuminating our spiritual eyes
to see and understand the "knowledge of the glory of God."
There is no better place to start seeking first the kingdom than by seeking
the King Himself! Brother Lawrence said, "We can make our heart a
chapel where we can go anytime to talk to God privately."
God is in the silence. I recently read a verse in 1 Kings that talks about
God's gentle whisper. Elijah was waiting for the presence of the Lord,
and there was a powerful wind and an incredible earthquake. Then the verse
says, "After the earthquake came a fire, but the LORD was not in
the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper." That's how God
speaks to us. Just in that gentle whisper. But we have to be able to hear
it. -Peter Furler
Solitude is a time of waiting. It is waiting on the Lord and learning
to recognize the sound of the Shepherd's voice. We do this by fixing our
eyes on Jesus, the light and the life of all men.
Someone said, "Even the desire to desire God comes from Him."
In other words, everything we need-even the desire to love and fellowship
with God-is something He must give us, and as we surrender our need to
God, He will change our hearts. Your prayer can be as simple as, "Father,
help me to desire You." Keep praying this prayer with simple trust,
and allow Him to kindle the love within your heart.
When we allow Christ to live His life through us, our lives become the
Word personified, just as His life was. It is not just our words that
speak the Good News. We are living and walking pictures of Christ.
"It Is You"
As we lift up our hands
As we call on your name
Will you visit this place
By your mercy and grace
Holy, holy is his name alone
It is you
We adore
It is you
Praises are for
Only you
The heavens declare
It is you
It is you
