Newsboys - ''devotion'' (2004)
Devotion
All that I have to give
Here's my devotion

What are you devoted to? I mean really devoted to. Devotion carries the idea of having a strong love or affection. When you are devoted to something or someone, they become the focus of your attention. Your world revolves around them. Each decision you make, each thought of the future centers around that devotion.

When King David was dying, he called his son Solomon to his side and gave him the following advice:

"And you, my son Solomon, acknowledge the God of your father, and serve him with wholehearted devotion and with a willing mind, for the LORD searches every heart and understands every motive behind the thoughts" (1 Chronicles 28:9, NIV).

You know, some people call these Reflections "devotions." Now, you and I both know they are not the focus of your attention, but I hope they help focus your attention on Someone who deserves your and my devotion.

Jesus devoted His life here on earth to you and me. Every action, every word, every deed was a message to us. He was conveying the love of the Father, His mercy and His holiness to us. The devotion of our Lord led Him to a death on the cross for us.

I don't know about you, but the lyrics of the song "Devotion" by the Newsboys have me reconsidering the focus of my life. To live every day devoted to Him seems like a very lofty goal. But it is what He has called us to. And it is what He will help us do. With each thought, with each word, today I will live out the love of Jesus that He has placed in my heart. How about you?
