Have you ever thought of the Gospel as a disease? There are some places in the world where people think just that. They pass anti-conversion laws to make it illegal to lead anyone to Jesus Christ. But, in my mind, they have it backwards, Christianity isn't the disease, it is the cure.

"Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth" (Jeremiah 33:6 KJV).

If there is one thing this world needs it is an abundance of peace and truth. The Gospel is a cure. It restores life and hope to those who drink deep of its wells of mercy.

You know, when I read this verse, I thought of all the cures I have heard people talk about over the years. Sometimes we do the craziest things in the name of a cure. Some work; some don't. Like the hiccups: hold your breath, breath into a paper bag, scare the person, hold your nose, take seven drinks of water without breathing, oh wait, that one works. Or diets, how many dumb diets have you heard of. How about the cabbage soup diet? Or the grapefruit diet?

Well, the Gospel of Jesus Christ is the only cure for the wounded soul of man. In the song "I'm Not Ashamed," the Newsboys ask us to consider if we act like the Gospel is a disease. Is it like some illness that we don't want others to know we have? No way! The Gospel does not cause dis-ease, it brings wholeness and peace. So let's all take the Newsboys challenge and see if we can't infect a few people today with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I can tell you, I am not ashamed, are you?
