PAUL COLMAN TRIO (PC3) - BIOGRAPHY

Put simply, the Paul Colman Trio is a phenomenon.

Formed in Melbourne in 1998, the Paul Colman Trio features Paul Colman (lead singer/ songwriter/ guitarist), Grant Norsworthy (bass/ vocals) and Phil Gaudion (drums/ percussion/ vocals).

Named as Artist of the Year in 2000 and 2001 by The Rock Across Australia (TRAA) charts, the Australian pop-rock trio has been selling out venues, and gathering a reputation for its unbeatable live shows for the past four years.

With stellar performances at Australia’s leading Christian events and festivals — Youth Alive, Sonfest, Blackstump, Forest Edge, and the Australian Gospel Music Festival — plus New Zealand’s Parachute Festival, and California’s Spring Celebration, the Paul Colman Trio is well prepared to join Third Day on a 42-city Come Together tour in February-April 2002.

Affectionately known as PC3, the trio has garnered unrivalled airplay throughout Australia with nine radio singles going Top 5 — Fill My Cup (#3), Dip (#3), The Killing Tree (#2), Your Sweet Voice (#2), Turn (#1), Sundown (#1), Live It (#3), Africa (#4) and Dip “live” (#3). The latter two are still charting.

The band has released four independent albums: Serious Fun, Turn, PC3 Live (Electric), PC3 Live (Acoustic) — each one a best seller. And total CD sales are now approaching gold status.

Australia’s largest selling newspaper, the Herald-Sun has recognised the trio as forming the leading edge of Contemporary Christian Music in Australia, citing PC3’s success as indicative of the way Christian music is heading.

The Bulletin (which incorporates Newsweek) has highlighted the trio’s contribution to Christian popular culture, and the Salvation Army’s national youth magazine Venue has declared that the guys are “fast becoming a household name”.

One thing’s for sure, the Paul Colman Trio aims to inspire and empower people in their lives, and to encourage them to keep considering where they’re at in their relationship with God.

“The main message is simple,” says Paul Colman.

“Love God, and love others — that’s the central part of Jesus’s teaching."

The Paul Colman Trio’s latest CD New Map of the World is scheduled for international release early 2002.
