PAUL COLMAN TRIO (PC3) - BIOGRAPHY
Hailed as one of Christian music's best unsigned acts, Australia's
Paul Colman Trio produces a live show that connects with crowds large
and small, young and old.
The Paul Colman Trio has the honour of being at the forefront of the
Contemporary Christian Music scene in Australia, something that neither
critics nor fans would dispute.
A quick look at the sales figures, radio airplay, charts, tours, plus
album and concert reviews confirms their status.
With total CD sales fast approaching gold status, The Rock Across
Australia Christian charts has named the Paul Colman Trio as Artist
of the Year.
The past three years has seen the Paul Colman Trio selling out venues,
gathering a reputation for an unbeatable live performance, and impressing
all with its great stage presence, and audience rapport.
Formed in Melbourne, the Paul Colman Trio features Paul Colman (lead
singer/ songwriter/ guitarist), Grant Norsworthy (bass/ vocals) and
Phil Gaudion (drums/ percussion/ vocals).
The trio burst onto the scene in 1998 with a distinctive acoustic pop
sound and debut album Serious Fun. And what a debut!
The first single Fill My Cup struck all the right chords gaining #3
on TRAA, and helped to attract more than a 1000 people in Melbourne,
Sydney and Brisbane for each CD launch.
A tour of 15 cities and four states followed and soon the trio began
one on the fastest learning curves any act could hope for.
The rave reviews that accompanied the trio's performances had them
gaining the attention of the largest commercial radio network in the
country, TV coverage from the Channel 7 network, plus national press
coverage.
Melbourne's Herald-Sun recognised the Paul Colman Trio as the
leading edge of Contemporary Christian Music in Australia, citing its
success as indicative of the way Christian music is heading.
Christian radio too recognised the trio's talent providing successive
singles with unprecedented airplay. Dip, The Killing Tree
and Your Sweet Voice, the trio quickly established PC3 as one
of the most played acts on Christian radio in the country.
Late 2000, the guys recorded their second album, Turn with a
slightly harder edge.
Starting a gold rush that seems unstoppable, the title song knocked
Mary Mary's Shackles (Praise You) off the #1 spot and held that
position for more than 13 consecutive weeks.
PC3's first national tour and live performances filled theatres, halls
and churches in 26 metropolitan and regional centres from six states
the length and breadth of the country, and connected with the thousands
of people who witnessed the amazing shows.
September and October 2001 sees the band touring 21 Australian cities
with the PC3 Live Tour, and releasing 2CDs (PC3 Live - Acoustic,
PC3 Live - Electric) plus the PC3 Video Collection.
There can be no doubt that this genuine record-breaking act produces
wonderful and timely music with a message that is powerfully weaved
throughout their songs. It provides hope and encouragement to troubled
times.
